YOU DIDN'T SEE ME. YOU DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT ME.

When the Eyes can't See. The Heart doesn't Feel.

I passed by you and you didn't even see me. You were looking at your phone while you were making a video call. I understand, it's good to shorten the distance when you miss someone. It's good for the soul, good for the heart.  

Then I walked past you and you were preoccupied looking at your cell phone. You were counting the likes on your last post. You forgot that you're worth for what you are, not what you have or look like. But that's okay, one day you'll understand the difference. Until then, be kind to yourself. Don't judge yourself so much, and don't judge your neighbor.

I turned right and bumped into you, but your eyes were glued to your cell phone and you were in a whole other world.  You were looking at the latest model of sneakers from a well-known brand, thinking how much you'd like to have them. Only you forgot that a new model will soon be released, which you'll like even more than this one. Eventually, you won't even remember where you kept the sneakers you see now and that you'll end up buying. What a waste, don't you think?

I moved on and crossed the intersection when I saw you. I don't know how old you were, but you reminded me of when I was still a child. You were absorbed in a social network where you could hear someone screaming while dancing. You were so focused that you didn't even realize that a car was speeding towards you and narrowly missed you. You have to be careful. Your health and well-being are your most important assets to preserve. Remember that a minute in the life is worth more than life in a minute. 

I took the subway and we came face to face. I looked at you but you didn't see me either. You were so focused on playing online with your friends and shooting that you didn't even notice that the girl next to you kept looking at you, not even when she got up and “accidentally” bumped into you. Who knows if she could become a lifelong girlfriend or friend? Don't forget that the world doesn't stop, even when you're away. Reality always beats fiction and sometimes there are no coincidences. The time is now, don't waste it.     

Then you followed, and you too. That day nobody saw me, nobody looked at me. What a shame, all I wanted to do was smile at you and wish you a happy day. Next time.
